Fascist Scum

There is a fascist website in the UK called Redwatch, linked to the White National Party, or some such group of no hopers. They publish pictures – and where possible, names, addresses and phone numbers – of leftists, anti-racists and trade unionists.

The idea is that your local thug, bored on a Friday night and feeling edgy after too much special brew, can look on the Internet for some one to go and beat up. Ignoring the fact that most fascists are too stupid to switch on a computer, it’s really just a sad attempt at intimidation from a bunch of belligerent drunks.

Somehow, they have managed to get a picture of my partner Talitha (you have to scroll down, it’s near the middle of the page), which they have posted on their site. This really upsets me, as I have been active on the left since high school, and I have been outspoken about my views for at least ten years. Why haven’t they got a picture of me? I feel like no one is listening ….

I have never tried to hide my views or whereabouts with anonymity, and anyone wanting to get hold of me could probably track me down on the Internet in seconds.

A lot of people on the left use noms de guerre and aliases to hide their identity. I don’t because I have got nothing to hide, and stand by everything I have written. I don’t think we can influence the world unless we are prepared to stand and be counted.

Fascists, if you’re reading this, why don’t you save everyone a lot of bother and beat yourselves up, or have sex with each other and get it out of your system.
