Strike bikes
From IWW Scotland:
A bicycle factory in Germany is being occupied and collectively run by its
workforce. And they’re taking orders.
135 workers of “Bike Systems GmbH” in Nordhausen, Germany have occupied their
factory since 10th of July 2007. Bought by asset strippers in December 2006, it
was due to be shut down, with production moved overseas.
To support their strike the workers have decided to resume production of
bicycles, managing themselves without bosses. For this aim 1,800 binding orders
on bicycles must be received by 2nd of October.
For more information, and to order a bike, visit their website.
The workers are organised by the syndicalist Freie Arbeiterinnen- und Arbeiter-Union (Free Workers’ Union).
